This week will see a lot of transitions. On Monday October 6, 2018, we left PEI and there are many things we will miss about that province.
We visited Hopewell rocks to see the flowerpot rock formations. The height and size of these formations is impressive.
Maya was feeling under the weather so we cut our visit short.
75 Burpees today.
One concern on this trip was exercise. We have the bikes but I wanted to find a way to maintain my sculpted physique while travelling. Amongst my friends I am known as the athletic one.
One of my favourite exercises is the two handed kettle bell swing. I brought along my 53 lb kettlebell and planned to use it daily. I used it exactly 1 time in a month. So in Newfoundland I gave it away to a cousin who was looking for some equipment.
Surprisingly, giving up the kettlebell freed me up to try other things. I tried taking brisk walks but that wasn’t doing it. Then I remembered that I had purchased a cheap pair of work gloves to keep my hands warm. I put them on and was able to do burpees on the asphalt outside the RV.
A burpees is a push-up with a jump and clap of your hands behind your head. I started up with 10. The next day I did 15. The next 20. I have missed one day but now I am up to 75. It takes about 15 minutes to complete and leaves me winded at the end.
I am happy that I have now found an exercise that I can do on a regular basis.
U.S. of A
We drove from Fredricton to a Walmart in Woodstock and prepared to cross over in the United States.
I was nervous about the border crossing and consider it like having the sword of Damocles over your head. As the story goes, the sword of Damocles hung over the emperors head and was held in place by a single hair. You are handing over all privacy to them and could be detained or arrested.
The border crossing went well. The guards double checked our information, our story and inspected the RV. They were respectful and professional. We had to hand over our cell phones while he went through the RV. If they wanted me to, I would have had to unlock it for them to inspect. But that was not needed.
After about 40 minutes we were allowed to go through. We continued on to Bangor main and are spending the night at a Walmart with several other RV’s.
Thursday we stayed at a camp ground in Holden and Friday travelled to Acadia National Park. The park is nice and there are lots of beaches to enjoy. But it also seems really busy and we could not go on the loop through the park because the RV is too tall.
We have been using Spotify a lot to listen to music. I have been wishing we had more music so I decided to buy a Ukulele. It is small and easy for the kids to use. I can learn to play it as well and it is an awesome red colour. Now to learn Stairway to Heaven on the Ukulele.

We visited Boston. Figuring out how to get in there was the biggest challenge. We ended up parking the RV at Riverside T station and taking the tram in. It ran along two steel rails and had an overhead contact system for power so I am calling it a tram. I am not sure who manufactured it but it ran well. After working on them for several years, it was nice to ride as a commuter.
The Boston kids museum was a lot of fun and the kids had a great time tiring themselves out. Being a school day it was not too busy. And surprisingly, it closed at 5pm. I thought they would stay open later to get more kids who were out of school.
High speed update now.
I slacked off on my writing and missed updating for 2 weeks.
After Boston we went to New York which had some nice parts.
Then we went to Six Flags Adventure
And then back to Canada but that is for my next post.
